Southcentral Alaska offers some of the best fly-in sportfishing in the world. From our luxury fishing lodges, we fish in freshwater and saltwater, and spin-fish as well as fly-fish.

At Winterlake Lodge, we utilize our Robinson R-44 helicopter to access endless surrounding streams and lakes. We sometimes float-fish for the day down a favorite river. A field-experienced guide always accompanies our guests and we offer quality equipment for guest use.
We fish for saltwater fish such as halibut, cod and salmon at Tutka Bay Lodge as well as some freshwater fishing in nearby lakes.
Fly-Fishing
We offer instruction in fly-fishing and fly-tying. Learn how to tie Alaska-style flies and learn how to cast with one of our resident fishing experts.
Fly-fishing for grayling, salmon and rainbows can be done in the lakes surrounding Winterlake Lodge. We fly-fish right off the dock at Tutka Bay Lodge as well as Rocky River and Humpy Creek.
Freshwater Fishing
Rainbow trout, Dolly Varden and Grayling all require clear, cold and highly oxygenated water to thrive. This they find in Alaska in abundance. We fish for these species at Winterlake Lodge primarily.
These clear waters are also spawning destinations for all five species of Pacific salmon. Clear water allows you to observe schools of salmon at times as they return to their natal Alaska streams after years of swimming in the North Pacific. Bears, eagles, and humans are all interested in the salmon return!
Saltwater Fishing
We fish in saltwater at Tutka Bay Lodge in the rich and diverse maritime community of Kachemak Bay. Deep fjords offer amazing variety of sea life. Just fishing off of the dock of the lodge can yield amazing creatures.
The most sought-after fish species in Kachemak Bay is the halibut – but we love to fish also for cod, salmon, and rockfish (several kinds). We harvest fresh mussels, clams, and oysters in our area. Often chefs accompany guests to gather local ingredients for dinner.
