Bear viewing, fly-in fishing trips, paddling, birding and more at Redoubt Bay Lodge, Alaska 60° 49′ N 152° 17′ W

Professional guides take our guests bear viewing in the lake at Redoubt Bay Lodge.
Redoubt Bay Lodge offers complimentary adventure activities for our full-service guests. Each day, our manager creates a daily activities sheet that can be followed as a guideline or personalized with your guide.
The emphasis at Redoubt Bay Lodge is the spectacular natural terrain surrounding the lodge, the local wildlife residents, and what we can learn from this fragile and special environment.
Bear Viewing
Because of the salmon population at Big River Lakes, there are many bears that feed in the local area. We are working hard to protect our resident bears and co-exist with them. A trained naturalist guide will take you for an up close and safe view of our nearest neighbors.
Fishing
We are constantly exploring our neighborhood for new fishing waters and angling adventures to offer.
Paddling the Lake
We have canoes and kayaks available at the lodge for checking out the meandering coves of Big River Lakes. Spend a few minutes or all day exploring the famous Big River Lakes area.
Birds and the Critical Habitat Area
The critical habitat area established at Redoubt Bay is to protect the vast variety of bird species that migrate, nest and live in the area. It is the worlds only nesting ground for the Tule goose, a sub-species of the White-fronted goose. At least one-third of all birds recorded in Alaska can be viewed here. Ask to borrow a set of binoculars for bird viewing!
Photography Opportunities
Big River Lakes offers a spectacular setting for novice and professional wilderness and outdoor photographers. We offer periodic special wilderness photography classes at Redoubt Bay Lodge.
